Hey guys,

I've been busy but, I just wanted to share something new that I've been working on. This is a logo design I did for an interior design company focusing on business. The logo wasn't used, but it was a fun experience nonetheless. (All trademarks, logos, images are copyrighted to there respective parties).

Well I'm back from a long hiatus. Alot of projects are ah-brewin' but, nothing new yet to showcase. I just found out recently from my good friend Heath Grant, that the animated short I worked on WILL be featured in this year's Santa Cruz Film Festival! This is very exciting news indeed. I won't leave you empty handed. Here is another installment of "Oldies but Goodies." I initially wasn't going to post this stuff, but why not? Maybe someone will enjoy it.

This was my final project for Storyboarding in the summer of 2005. The objective was to pick one of 3 options for a story concept and sync it to the soundtrack. From what I recall, I picked a character has to go somewhere, obtain an object and then create something with it. When I heard this tune I immediately thought of early silent films, and comedies like "Laurel and Hardy" and "The Three Stooges." What do you think? (e.g. Music copyrighted to the Respected Parties - NOT MINE AND DON'T CLAIM IT TO BE.)

This was another final project from my web design class in the fall of 2005. It a majority of it focused on Flash and CSS. We had the choice of making a website or an animatic short. I chose the latter. I made up the character a long time ago and thought it was appropriate for the exercise. It consists mostly of key pose animations and is very refined. I did win an award for it as an animation concept in 2008, but to be fair, there wasn't many submissions. lol, hey I'm not complaining the animators should of stepped it up!

It's been awhile, but I finally have something new to show. I've been working on a few things simultaneously and haven't paid much attention at all to this blog. anyways, this is a game character of a German solider of World War 2 era (I know, I know, I totally sold out to what is popular right now in the game world, but hey, I need a better job than what i have). It is a 5000 polygon model, with two 2048x2048 normal maps, two 2048x2048 color maps, a 2048x2048 transparency map, and finally two 512x512 specular maps.

Here is the final for my portfolio class back in April. It was very unfortunate for me to not have this done in time for Siggraph (which was an awesome experience), but I did get some insight and encouragement from industry professionals, teachers and peers. I now have a better idea of whats to be expected. Creature for Modeling 3 Final

April 30th: here is a painted version of the model. I'm still trying to work on the lighting a bit because it is blowing out all of the detail.

Well kids I think I'm about due to post something new. This render is a combination of a sea turtle, rhino, and an elephant. i got the idea from a sculpture i did awhile back in Thomas Applegate's (sculpting teacher) class. this is turning out a hell of a lot better than the sculpture did. anyways, got to get back to work and paint this sucker!

My Midterm Project for Organic Modeling

This is a render of my midterm project. We were supposed to make a dragon-like creature, but instead i made a pterodactyl. It still needs some work, but I think its coming along quite nicely! I think I'm going to sculpt it more and texture it to finish it.

Animated Short "El Diablo Loco"

Well I think its time for a new post! I know what your thinking "when is this guy going to post some "New" work? And I agree with you completely! For the past few months I have been working on a animated short film entitled "EL DIABLO LOCO," which will be due out sometime next year. I can't give you any information on it yet because i have to get permission from the creators. My friend Heath Grant and Stuart Hallock (animators/concept artists/modelers) came up with this exciting project that I'm happy to be apart of! I am the lead modeler on the project, who created the environment that the film takes place in. I also did mesh clean up and additional modeling to all of the characters in the film. I will probably be summoned to do props in the future as well. Other members of the team include David Rutan (unwrapping and texture-lighting artist), Jeff Jackson (adviser/Art Director/teacher), Mike Roberts (modeling/adviser/teacher), Mike Huber (Project Manager/adviser/teacher), Cassia Harries (modeling), and Jillian LeNoble (modeling). The film makers hope to enter it into next years Siggraph event and film festivals. Stay tuned for more details!

Update: March 7th-

Here is a short modeling demo reel i did for the movie. It shows the mesh clean up work I did and additional modeling (although some of the edits you can't really see because it didn't render the wire frames. dou!). I also did all the mouths for the characters (which some of them you can't see really either). The original models were done by me, Mike Roberts, Heath Grant, Stuart Hallock, Jillian LeNoble, and Cassia Harries. Enjoy!

Oldies but Goodies - The 2nd Installment

Here are some PS projects I have worked on in the past for your viewing pleasure. The 1st was my final for a design class I had when I started Cogswell in 2004. Emperor George W Bush was a really fun project. The 2nd is a Matte painting in which I turned a small Irish town into an Italian Villa. The 1st picture is the original and the next is the finished product. I tried to make it as seamless as I could. I'm really happy with how these turned out.

My first post! I hope you enjoy. This is some old stuff i did years ago.

The 1st is a portrait of Tupac Shakur (14 x 17) - Winter 2001, graphite and charcoal pencil with photographic reference. The 2nd is a Centaur vs. The Cyclops (25 1/2 x 40) - Winter 2004, graphite and charcoal pencil with photographic reference. The 3rd is a Collage (18 x 24) - winter 2001, graphite and charcoal pencil with magazine references. 4th is the Door Knob (14 x 17) -winter 2001, graphite and charcoal pencil still life. The 5th is Kitchen Utensils (16 1/2 x 22) - winter 2001, graphite and charcoal pencil still life. The 6th is 2 Glasses (16 1/2 x 22) - winter 2001, graphite and charcoal pencil still life... And lastly, the Brown Paper Bag (14 x 17) - winter 2001, graphite and charcoal pencil still life.
